FDA Complex (Public Domain) |
Since we’re
all dying from the moment of birth
(and/or conception), risk cannot be avoided. Neither can it be fully calculated. There are just too many unknown
variables.
So-called terminal
patients are faced with
momentous decisions: Should I go this
route or that route? Shall I take this drug or
that treatment? How may I weigh
quality of life against quantity?
These are
questions that people need to grapple with
on an intimate level. They need the
freedom to seek answers for themselves. When such choices are limited by the
FDA and the medical-pharmaceutical
complex, then self-determination
is at most risk of all.
