Wish that all humans were this welcoming

Greetings and Salutations!  (Photo by jinterwas)
Hospitality is called for within many religious traditions.  Here are some scriptural quotes on the subject:

You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.  (Leviticus 19:34)

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (Hebrews 13:2)

Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good – to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer you meet… For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious.  (4:36)

Even an enemy must be offered appropriate hospitality if he comes to your home.  A tree does not deny its shade even to the one who comes to cut it down.  (Mahabharata 12.374)

Although elephants can’t read, they seem hardwired for hospitality.  See for yourself within this video.
