Rampant Rudeness

Table Manners in the Nursery  (PD, 1916)
What used to be considered impolite is now the norm in many circles.

Texting that you’re running 15 minutes late doesn’t make the wait any shorter.  The person on the other end might have better things to do than hanging in your void.

Once you arrive, and dinner is well underway, resist the temptation to answer your phone.  Nothing says rudeness more than grabbing a call during a face-to-face encounter.

After dessert, walk that toothpick over to the bathroom. Fellow diners don’t wish to see the intimate details of your dental plan.

Are you now looking for the check?  Don't flag the server down; simple eye contact will suffice.  Waving across a crowded room can be construed as embarrassing overkill.

When you finally do get on Facebook, resist the temptation to let loose.  If you’re frustrated about the meal you just had, releasing a torrent of insults about it could cost you a future job.  Would-be employers will certainly check your sites to determine how affable you might be.
