Dancing with Grapes

In 1958, Betty Madigan had a hit song called “Dance Everyone Dance.”  It was loosely based upon the Israeli folk song “Hava Nagila.”

If people took this literally, then there might be far less dementia in the world.  A 2003 study from the New England Journal of Medicine indicates that “seniors who danced three to four times a week – especially those who ballroom danced” were 75 percent less likely to develop dementia than non-dancers.

Lead author of this study, Dr. Joe Verghese, explains that dancing not only”improves blood flow to the brain,” but also presents “mental challenges.”  So dance where the wine was born, but don’t drink too much at once.  You might step on a few toes then.
