When subtracting adds happiness

Sometimes it's not the things we add, but the things we let go of, that make for happiness.

There's an expression that goes like this:  Be yourself, everyone else is taken.  Ceasing to compare yourself with others may therefore be a royal road to contentment.

Leaving credit cards at home can free you from impulse shopping.  At least temporarily.  And temporarily might be all that’s needed to halt the cycle of debt.

It’s been said that carrying a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting your so-called enemy to die.  Releasing resentment can lighten a heavy heart considerably.

Then there’s the material stuff that we clutter our lives with.  Downsizing can certainly be uplifting.
