Catnaps not just for cats

Your chariot awaits!   (Public Domain)

Although rappers are often called woke, nappers are often called lazy.  Yet dozing off in the middle of the day has been found to have some distinct cognitive benefits.

We’re not talking hours on end, for that might be cause for medical concern. But we are talking catnaps, which usually last about half an hour.  During such time, the brain can achieve rest by “clearing out [the] daily jumble of thoughts.”  This fosters an increase in mental acuity.

So go ahead, drop down into that easy chair and have yourself a snooze.  Call it a power nap if you must; just don’t call it wasteful.
