Not just in dank alleys

During these final days before Christmas, the Yule Lads are bolder than ever.  They are slithering out of their hiding places in order to wreak havoc throughout Iceland.

These 13 troublemakers go by names needing no further explanations (e.g., Spoon Licker, Sausage Swiper, Door Slammer, Window Peeper and Candle Stealer).  Any one of these habits can be quite annoying – multiply them by 13, and you’ve got yourself a pounding headache.

But don’t worry, this too shall pass.  On Christmas Day, they begin to depart – one by one, day by day.  By mid-January, all is well.  That is, if you enjoy shoveling your way through raging blizzards…
