For what? Muslim woman ousted from Trump rally

During a recent political rally in South Carolina, Donald Trump began questioning “the motives of Syrian refugees,” saying they “probably are ISIS.”

Upon hearing that, a Muslim woman stood up in silent protest to this sweeping generalization.  The Washington Post reports
that she “was wearing a white hijab and a blue T-shirt that read:  Salam, I come in peace.”

Although Rose Hamid maintained her dignified silence, people around her began chanting “Trump!  Trump!  Trump!” while Trump himself was still speaking.  Hamid was then removed from the rally by security staff, and the chanters were allowed to stay.  This certainly begs the following question:  Who’s actually disrupting whose freedom of speech, assembly and religion?

Although some Trump supporters apologized to Hamid while she was being led out, others falsely “accused her of having a bomb.”  Some were yelling, “Get out!”

Hamid later emphasized:  This demonstrates how when you start dehumanizing the other, it can turn people into very hateful, ugly people.  It needs to be known.
