Viral stupidity: An infectious concern

Watch what you swallow...     (PD)
Feeling stupid lately?  Perhaps you’re coming down with a virus.

Philip Ross of the International Business Times reports that “a virus known to attack green algae in lakes and rivers” is also
“making dummies” out of some people.

“How so?” you with (thus far) non-infected brains might be logically asking.

Ross explains that this ATCV-1 virus  “can impair [human] cognitive activity, learning and memory, essentially making the person who has [it]… less intelligent.”

Since scientists have found that 44 percent of people studied carry this virus (and that those who do “performed about 10 percent worse on cognitive tests”), what does this say about almost half the human population?

Sounds suspiciously like a rampant case of viral stupidity…
