The First Amendment seemed to be last on the minds of deputies who violently arrested a legitimate news reporter.
Can't say that it never happened because Josie Huang’s got it all on video. Much has been said nevertheless: from she didn’t have the proper credentials (which she did), to she tried to interfere with an arrest (which she didn’t).
Huang later compared her arrest to “being tossed around the ocean and then slammed into a rock.” This was not just poetic fancy, for journalist Huang was violently “shoved around” by deputies, while their colleagues were kicking her phone in an attempt to damage its contents.
Instant karma kicked back and her phone kept recording. Huang therefore has proof that this violation of her First Amendment rights wasn’t fake news after all.
