Although New Jersey has some downsides (traffic, pollution, crime: to name a few), earthquakes aren’t usually on that list.
Yet folks in Central New Jersey were shaken awake at 2 AM by a 3.1 tremor. Vibrations were felt all the way to Long Island and Philadelphia.
Structural damage is reportedly “unlikely.” At least for now. New Jersey was hit by a 5.5 quake back in 1884. Should that level of intensity reoccur, the consequences could be “severe.”
