The digital divide cuts through much of the world, but nowhere is it more evident than in California.
It takes a mere 45 minutes for many to travel between the Salinas and Silicon Valleys, but some will be left virtually stranded. This was obvious when two Salinas youngsters were recently spotted on a street curb, trying to access a Taco Bell’s wifi. They were doing this in order to complete school assignments.
Amy Ish of the Salinas School District publicly acknowledged that “the digital divide is very real.” All too real for a world that is often not.
