Love Thy Captor

Eye on the Sky  (Photo by Jessie Eastland)
When Jesus said “Love thy enemy,” He most likely meant it literally.  This would then include kidnappers.

Many who call themselves Christians are now ridiculing an American woman who refuses to see her captors as totally evil.  After being set free, Kimberley Endicott praised them for somewhat protecting her during the ordeal.  Her abductors not only supplied her with bottled water, but also
“built her a tent.”

Endicott feels that compassion bloomed after she began “humanizing” herself to them.  She did this by favorably comparing the African night sky to the California one.  While on a forced walk over the Ugandan border into the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Endicott looked up at the heavens and said, “Look at the sky.  We don’t have this at home.”
