Like a Red Rubber Ball

Solar Wind Speed    (NASA image)
If you were able to recreate the sun, what would you name it?  Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have named their attempt “Big Red Ball.”

This solar mini-me spews forth “magnetic field twists” of wind, reminiscent of the gusts that emanate from Earth’s nearest star.  These Parker-spiral gusts contain occasional “blobs of plasma.”  Physicists are hoping that their Big Red Ball can help to solve some mysteries of these plasmoids.
