Eerie Brumation

When southern swamps freeze, alligators do too.  Quite deliberately, it seems.

With eyes and noses above water, gators position themselves to weather the cold.  Their frozen faces gaze eerily at bundled-up humans (we all have our modes of survival).

As the swamps thaw, so do these hardy reptiles.  They are now ready to resume their jaw-snapping activities.
