90-year-old prays for a friend, then one appears

Praying Hands  (by Albrecht Durer)
Some might call it the power of prayer, others might call it human compassion.  Whatever it is, it sure does make life worthwhile.

Wanda Mills was a solitary nonagenarian when she penned a plea to her neighbor.   Mills did not ask for money, but instead for that which cannot be purchased: friendship.

Now this plea could have fallen on deaf ears, but it didn’t.  Mills’ letter was kindly received by Marleen Brooks, a young lady who had “always regretted not spending more time with her grandma.”

Brooks began visiting Mills quite often, and “a dear friendship” developed.  Brooks then “started a group called Pen Pals for Seniors to help end the isolation for others.”

Was all this just one happy coincidence?  Mills doesn’t think so.  She is convinced that God sent Brooks in response to the mighty power of prayer.
