Owl 'hugs' caregiver

If bears can hug, why not owls?  This affectionate behavior seems to have been recently offered by a great horned owl to her primary caregiver.

According to The Huffington Post, owl GiGi “had suffered severe head trauma… aspergillosis, which affects the respiratory system, and was riddled with parasites” upon arrival at a Mississippi rescue center.

The shelter’s president, Douglas Pojesky, played a huge role in GiGi’s miraculous recovery.  Known as “the bird whisperer,” Pojesky earns a great deal of trust from his fine feathered friends.

After going "out of town for a while,” Pojesky returned to the center.  GiGi then “hopped onto his chest and wrapped her wings around him.”

Who says that animals don’t have feelings?  Some seem way more grateful than humans.
