When
scientists at the University of Western
Ontario played audio recordings of
chickadee predators, the birds exposed to
such trauma showed signs of “enduringly fearful
behavior.”
PTSD
appears to have some strong survival
value
in the wild. Although quality of life is
negatively
affected, at least life goes on. This is
what humans might call a healthy fear of that which
is dangerous: hot stoves, slippery tubs, raging
storms, etc.
