asked a popular guru why he was celibate, his
answer was intriguing: “For the same
reason you’re not.”
We all strive
for highs - whether from sex, meditation,
or countless other pursuits. Our longing for these
altered states can easily distort
perceptions.
A day-care
staff in Bangor, Maine was recently convinced
that a gift of Valentine’s Day cookies
actually contained marijuana. What would make them believe this? After munching on some samples, about a dozen coworkers "reported feeling intoxicated."
Police were
then called in to test the remaining goodies. Lo and behold, “none of the cookies tested
positive for controlled substances.”
So was it a
sugar high? Or was it an overdose of
Valentine’s Day love?
