Carrie Underwood: Facing the music

Some folks seem to have it all.  But then an accident occurs, and they wind up with facial scars.

If they’re a Nashville star, sooner or later they have to face the music.  And the fans.  At the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, Carrie Underwood did just that.

Lo and behold, she’s still standing!  Even with less than perfect skin.  Slathered on make-up seemed to do the trick, if the trick is to “Cry Pretty,” no matter what.

But what if crying makes you other than sexy, even for a little while?  What if scars make you other than photoshopped?  If rappers can herald the beauty of stretch marks, why can’t idols herald the beauty of scars?  After all, country claims to be oh-so-real.
