Markle's baptism: One step closer to Whom?

Fox News is getting a bit muddled in its reporting.  After proclaiming that Meghan Markle was recently baptized into the Anglican Church, Fox concluded that she “became one step closer to being a royal.”  Fox then stated that Markle’s baptism “is said to confirm her respect for Queen Elizabeth II, who is head of the Church of England.”

This announcement was immediately coupled with news of Markle’s public engagements.  The overall headline read:  Meghan Markle reportedly baptized into the Church of England, steps out for International Woman’s Day.  Just like that: all in one breath, giving each activity equal billing.

Fox might want to take a peek at Anglican doctrine.  Seems as though baptism is about confirming respect for “King Jesus I,” rather than for Queen Elizabeth II.  Seems as though Fox might want to verify who the actual head of the Church is.  Seems as though Fox might even wish to give Markle’s baptism its very own article.
