In Hamburg, every minute counts

Hamburg in 1811     (Public Domain)
Within an “average” human lifespan, there are millions of minutes.  Making each and every one of them count is both an art and a science.

The scientific aspect was quite evident in Hamburg, Germany recently.  A six-and-a-half foot, 44-pound minute hand suddenly plunged from the city’s Saint Katharinen church tower.  Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The cause of this incident has not yet been determined.  Could it have been a divine reminder to notice time’s fleeting moments?
