Westeros aside, we’re learning more and more about the actual creature that wrought havoc upon “horses, camels and mammoths.”
Although dire enough, it turns out that “wolf” might be a misnomer. DNA now suggests that the African jackal is more closely related. This might explain why telltale remains have been found in warmer, rather than colder climates. It also might account for a thin coat, as opposed to a shaggy one.
As for Game of Thrones, that’s why they call it fantasy. Yet fantasy can be more inspiring than fact.
