Imagine being just a five-minute walk from anywhere. Saudi Arabia is planning to make this possible within a 100-mile corridor.
Dubbed The Line, this “network of smart cities” will include autonomous and high-speed transit. Better yet, it will be powered by “100 percent clean energy.”
Yet there are downsides to be considered. This corridor will pass through native lands with tribes that stand to be evicted. The high-tech nature of the network raises additional quandaries, especially insofar as privacy is concerned.
