Ain't that something to behold! (Public Domain) |
Even during a pandemic, New York City is not particularly known for its quiet interludes.
Yet when a snowy owl alights in Central Park for the first recorded time since 1890, bystanders tend to breathe deeply. Comments such as “How beautiful!” soon fill the crisp air. And for a blessed moment, the sounds of silence outpace the sounds of sirens.
If pigeons and seagulls appeared that infrequently, they too might be viewed with wonder. Not to mention sunsets and your own miraculous mirrored face.
