Sands running out in time

Temperance   (by Ambrogio Lorenzetti)
Although there are an estimated  seven quintillion, five hundred quadrillion grains of sand on earth, everything of time runs out in time.

We are now being warned that these grains are sifting through the planet’s hourglass too quickly.  The United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) therefore advises that alternatives such as sawdust be considered.

After all, sand has become “the world’s second-most extracted resource,” (water being the first).  It has been rampantly utilized by “industry, governments and the public.”
