The Church of the Virgin of Dolores was submerged when the Purisima Dam had been built in 1979. Local residents had resisted this engineered flooding of their town, but were overruled. The people were relocated, but the church was not.
Because of a recent "severe drought," the church has now somewhat emerged. The faithful (and just plain curious) have been flocking to it once again, if only to snap a selfie or two.
