An ordinance which requires that “large animals… wear collection bags to catch their droppings” has been enacted in Auburn, Kentucky.  Some are now arguing that this ordinance “unfairly singles out” the Amish.

Many Amish are therefore resisting this regulation.  Some are even being jailed for noncompliance.  Town officials nevertheless assert that “the ordinance keeps the streets clean and reduces the risk of spreading disease.”

Nobody likes wading through horse manure, especially when it collects on public thoroughfares.  But then again, cars are certainly a health risk also.
