Sometimes size does matter

It's a tough life...  (Charles M. Russell)
Size shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it just does.  Like if you’re an enormous cow.  Or even if you aren’t.

At 6 feet 4 and 2800 pounds, Knickers is an enormous steer.  Not a cow, mind you.  Cows are females, steers are neutered males.

Now that we’ve got that straight, why does it matter?  Because size can sometimes make a difference between life and death.  Especially if you’re a steer slated for slaughter.

Since Knickers is too big for processing within an abattoir (fancy French word for slaughterhouse), he was spared.  Besides, cowboys like him.  As do cattle.  He’s kind of the Arnold Schwarzenegger of the ranch.

So if you're big and popular, you might wind up in Hollywood,  Or in the NBA.  At the very least, you won’t end up as prime rib.
