Three more hours to go!

Still grounded...   (Photo by Benh Lieu Song)
If you glance skyward at 10:24 EDT this morning and see something tall fly by, rest assured that it’s not the Eiffel Tower.

But don’t get too complacent.  It might instead be the asteroid that eats Planet Earth.  In other words, a NASA-deemed “potentially hazardous” rock is about to whiz dangerously close to the home front. Travelling “20 times as fast as a rifle bullet,” such a boulder could do some serious damage.

Hopefully you’re reading this at high noon, and the danger has passed.  If so, breathe a sigh of relief from the bounty of Earth’s still-friendly skies.
