The latest example comes with the marketing of Red Shoes And The Seven Dwarfs, the promo for which asks, “What if Snow White were no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?” This, in and of itself, could be an intriguing question, yet it is coupled with the image of a heavyset Snow White.
The implication is that slim and/or tall is far better than heavy and/or short, and that neither of these two latter body types can be beautiful. When the
promotional poster was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, it therefore garnered a heartfelt backlash.
Plus-size model Tess Holliday tweeted: How did this get
approved by an entire marketing team?
Why is it okay to tell young kids being fat =
ugly?
