Because David Bowie was a “gender bender” long before this was popular, fans are now finding it significant that he died at age 69.
Although some may snicker at the number, its core meaning goes far beyond just the physical. Taoist yin/yang
philosophy focuses upon balance, rather than upon duality.
In other words, yin (feminine) and yang (masculine) forces complement rather than oppose one another.
Gabriella Hartwell explains that they “interact within a greater whole, as part of a dynamic system.”
Although men are said to come from Mars, and women from Venus, they both remain part of the same solar system. They can either join hands in a cosmic dance, or trip over one another’s feet.
If people were to “let go of what we can perceive to separate us,” unity might prevail. If people insist upon clinging to categories, then segregation rules.
