Just plain Harry

Just Plain Them   (Photo by Mark Jones)
As opposed to rock stars named Prince, Britain’s prince prefers to be just plain Harry.

Harry and wife Meghan famously renounced their royal titles in order to just plain get on with life.  However, life isn’t all that plain for them.  Harry, for instance, will soon be meeting with Bon Jovi at the Abbey Road studios in London, something just plain folks can only dream about.

Nevertheless, it’s a start, and a brave one at that.

Halftime Doubly Offensive

Lopez in 2019   (Photo by John Bauld)
It seems that a good number of viewers did not want their Super Bowl experience infiltrated by soft porn.

Many a complaint was sent to the FCC regarding the halftime content.  Scantily-clad costumes coupled with sexual gestures just didn't make it for family-friendly folks.

Complaints were forthright:

What are you teaching young girls?

...I was not prepared to explain to my 11 yo daughter why Jennifer Lopez... kept grabbing her crotch...

This takes us back to where women get their worth from their sexuality not their brains/personality...

Meandering to Success

Getting from point A to point B need not entail a straight and narrow path.  Sometimes it’s better to get off track, especially as something comes barreling down.

Madeline Levine has spent oodles of time interviewing successful adults.  She’s found that only 10 percent of them are “straight arrows,” whereas 90 percent have changed course time and again.  These changes have often involved risks and failures.

The journey, however, has been well worth it.  “Financial independence” is just one way of measuring success.  Lessons learned from meandering here and there can prove invaluable for creating a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Frugal Self-Care

Central Park NYC   (Photo by Keithkesslerexp)
It’s not necessary to go halfway around the world in order to breathe deeply.  Nor is it necessary to invest in fancy lotions when you can chew on some veggies instead.

Self-care need not break the bank.  In fact, it can enhance the bank by saving money on medical bills.

If you’re wondering how to begin a routine of frugal self-care, here are some tips from Kelsey Borresen: spend time within nearby natural settings, cut down on social media, declutter your living space, engage in three-dimensional play, journal, meditate and cuddle.

There now, doesn’t that feel a whole lot better?
