Many are born with a silver tongue. Few die with a golden one.
These lucky few were from Ancient Egypt. They were mummified, then buried with “a gold amulet shaped like a tongue” reverently placed within the mouth cavity.
The belief was that this would allow them to speak with the gods, perhaps even with Lord Osiris. One such golden-tongued mummy was recently discovered at a temple near Alexandria.
