Mother Angelica dies on Easter Sunday

Mother Angelica    (Fair Use)

Born Rita Rizzo in 1923, she’s long been known to the world as Mother Angelica.  Her “baby,” the Eternal World Television Network, is more simply known to the world as EWTN.

This network, which now broadcasts “to more than 258 million households in more than 145 countries and territories,” was humbly birthed by Mother Angelica in a “monastery garage.”  It now has revenues in the tens of millions, most of which have been donated.

Mother Angelica delivered many a folksy homily during her long years of shepherding EWTN.  She had unfortunately lost much of this speaking ability after suffering a series of strokes.

It is only fitting that the Lord has called her back on Easter Sunday.  Her devotion seems widely recognized in this world and beyond.
