Connecting the Dots

Dark Matter Map for a Patch of Sky   (Kilo-Degree survey image)
Over time, we’ve grown more skillful at detecting galaxies.  Yet what’s between them has remained quite mysterious.

We tend to think of outer space as empty, but are lately beginning to fill in those blanks.  Invisible “dark matter” not only pervades the gaps, but also provides linkages.

With the assistance of computer simulations, researchers are discovering that dark matter contains “long filaments” that connect galaxies with one another.  This seems to be a manifestation of long-held spiritual beliefs that everything within existence is somehow interconnected.
