One British store has therefore decided to help combat sensory overload. A “quiet hour” will be declared on May 7th at 8 a.m.
How quiet? The
market will operate “sans music, TV displays, announcements, escalators and other loud noises.”
Shoppers who literally find themselves lost will be handed an old-fashioned map of the aisles.
If the idea catches on, other places might follow suit. Even
libraries might once again become quiet zones rather than video arcades.
