As in the story of Samson and Delilah, natural hair can be a source of strength and dignity.

The good news is that California officially recognized this with a new CROWN law (stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair”).  The bad news is that such a law is still needed in the year 2019.

Many a person has been victimized by a “Eurocentric view of beauty.”  People have been refused entry to schools, jobs and competitions because of dreadlocks, afros or cornrows.

CROWN also combats the health hazards of chemically-straightened hair.  Many “have suffered burns on the scalp” from such heavy-handed measures.
