Leap of Faith

The Drowned   (1867 Painting by Vasily Perov)
Sometimes you have to dive right into whatever life presents.

Nevertheless, when 11-year-old Advaik Nandikotkur was presented with a drowning adult, he had his doubts.  Nandikotkur only weighed 80 pounds, and the victim was under eight feet of water.

There was no time to weigh pros and cons; there was only time for a leap of faith.  At that point, the boy dove down, “grabbed the man’s wrist and pulled him to the surface.”

A life was saved, and a hero was born.  A humble one, at that.  When Nandikotkur’s story was broadcast “all over the local news,” he shunned the fanfare.  What matters, he said, is that the man is alive.”
